Dr. George A. Rooney III
George A. Rooney III, DMD , a lifelong resident of Monmouth County, went to high school at Christian Brothers Academy (CBA). He attended Upsala College and received his Dental Degree from Fairleigh Dickenson University School of Dentistry in 1976.
For the first 10 years of his career he practiced dentistry with his father, George A. Rooney Jr. at their office in Keyport, New Jersey. In 1986, the practice was moved to Beers Street in Holmdel near Bayshore Community Hospital. Soon after, Dr. George’s younger brother, Christopher J. Rooney DMD, joined the practice. Since then Dr. George, in partnership with Dr. Chris , have been providing general dental services to the local bayshore community.
Dr. George has continued to keep up on the latest techniques, materials, and technology in order to ensure that his practice provides his patients with the very best that modern dentistry has to offer. Most importantly, advancements in implant restorative dentistry have given him the capability of creating the most functional and aesthetic treatment outcomes, providing maximum benefits to his patients.
Dr. George has been a 35 year participant with the Jersey Shore Medical Center/University of Pennsylvania Continuing Dental Education Series. He has also attended the Pankey Institute in Florida and the Peter Dawson Series of Advanced Dental Courses. He has been a member of the Seattle Study Club and the Lincroft Village Study Group. Dr. George is a member of the Americas Dental Association, The New Jersey Dental Association and the Monmouth-Ocean County Dental Society.
Dr. George and his wife reside in Monmouth County and spend a great deal of time at the Jersey Shore where they enjoy boating and taking advantage of all the shore has to offer. After obtaining his private pilot’s license, Dr. George used his flying skills to fly rescue dogs to adoption shelters throughout the Northeast.
Working in this family practice has been very satisfying and rewarding for Dr. George and one of his greatest enjoyments is treating the grandchildren and great grandchildren of families who were patients of his father’s years ago.
Dr. Christopher J. Rooney
Dr. Christopher Rooney credits his father, the late Dr. George A. Rooney Jr. for sparking his interest in dentistry as a career.
After graduating from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of N.J. (Rutgers Dental School) in 1988, Dr. Chris joined his brother Dr. George in the family practice. Since then, Dr. Chris has continually pursued excellence in the field of dentistry by attending courses in the fields of orthodontics, endodontics, cosmetics (including cosmetic veneers), periodontics and tempromandibular disorders. He most notably completed Dr. Peter Dawson’s series “Emphasis on Excellence in Restorative Dentistry.”
Dr. Chris received his B.S. from Providence College where he was elected member of AED (Alpha Epsilon Delta) the premedical honor society. He is also a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft. Currently he is a member of the American Dental Association and The New Jersey Dental Association. Dr. Chris has been an active member of New Jersey Donated Dental Services treating handicapped and disabled patients since 1989.
Dr. Chris is a certified Invisalign orthodontic provider and is trained and certified in the use of the Biolase dental laser. He actively studies implant dentistry and participates in courses and training to keep up with advancements in technology and technique.
Dr. Chris enjoys the diversity of a general dental practice and is happy to treat patients of all ages from young children to the elderly. He has also developed an excellent relationship with many of the best local specialists when a referral is in the patients’ best interest.
Dr. Chris lives in southern Monmouth County with his wife and 3 children. He is an avid skier, surfer and has completed 3 Ironman triathlons.
Cathy has been the Office Manager for Dr. Chris and Dr. George for a decade. Her primary responsibility is to ensure that everyone from doctors, assistants, hygienists and especially patients feel welcome, happy and content. Cathy most enjoys the satisfaction of helping patients, whether it is clarifying an invoice, explaining their coverage or ensuring that their scheduling needs are met.
As the office manager, Cathy is the voice that patients most often hear when they receive reminder phone calls or make appointment changes. She aims to ensure that everyone’s hectic schedule can be accommodated and enjoys the warm reception that she receives from appreciative customers.
Cathy and her family live in Hazlet, New Jersey where she enjoys running into local patients during their everyday lives, even if it means greeting them without makeup and wearing gardening clothes.
Dianne attended Monmouth County Vocational School and received her Dental Assisting Certificate and license for Dental Radiation.
She has been working in our office for over 6 years and has been in the dental field for over 30. Her primary responsibilities include greeting and seating patients, setting up operatories for procedures, assisting the doctor with treatment for patients and sterilization of instruments.
Prior to working with Dr. Rooney, Dianne worked for Dr. Francis Chasey until he retired in 2007. Upon his retirement, Dr. George and Dr. Chris took over Dr. Chasey’s practice which means that Dianne still enjoys seeing patients that she has known for many years.
Dianne is married with two children. She enjoys reading, cooking, walking and spending time with her family.
Dorothy is a Registered Dental Hygienist who has been working with Dr. George and Dr. Chris Rooney since 1988. She worked eight years as a full time hygienist and continued to work as needed in the office after starting her family. In 2011 she returned to the office on a regular basis and enjoys meeting new patients along with the many patients she has treated for years.
Dorothy first started in the dental field thirty years ago as a dental assistant and went on to graduate from Middlesex Community College with a degree in Dental Hygiene. She takes great pride in educating and working with her patients to help them achieve and maintain a healthy and beautiful smile.
Dorothy is also a member of the Jersey Coast Hygiene Study Club and attends many courses to keep current in the dental field. She enjoys spending time with her husband and three sons.
Amy has worked for Dr. George and Dr. Chris for 13 years. She graduated from The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey with a Bachelor of Science degree.
As a dental hygienist she enjoys educating a patients so that they can maintain a healthy smile and return a damaged one to a healthier state. Making her patients feel comfortable is important and Amy speaks to each one individually so she can get to know them and understand their interests.
She is a member of the Jersey Coast Study Club which offers regular meetings and allows her to stay current with new techniques and regulations as they arise.
Randi has been in the dental profession for about 8 years and has enjoyed working with Dr. Chris and Dr. George Rooney for 6 of them. During her time at Rooney & Rooney, Randi acquired her x-ray, certified dental assistant and registered dental assisting licenses.
As a registered dental assistant Randi takes pride in making patients feel as comfortable as possible while they are improving the overall health of their mouths as well as enhancing their smiles.
Randi is Dr. Chris’s chair side assistant. Her primary responsibilities as an RDA are to assist Dr. Chris in caring for each patient, whether it’s assisting him during a minor procedure such as filling a cavity or helping while comforting a patient during a root canal.
Sophie has been with Rooney & Rooney since 1960. She began her career with Dr. George Sr. in the Keyport office and over the years has worked with both Dr. George III and Dr. Chris.
Sophie has held various positions with the office ranging from assistant to receptionist to bookkeeper. Sophie has lived most of her life in the local area and is always a welcomed familiar face. Many of her patients are part of families that have been coming to the practice from its inception. It’s not unusual for Sophie to see patients that she helped assist with years ago who now bring their own children for treatment to the practice.
Sophie and her husband love to travel, cook and spend time with their 2 grandchildren.
